Job Description:
- Correctly identifies patients with the use of 2 patient identifiers.
- Perform basic nursing care (e.g. but not limited to Bed bath, shampoo, change of linen/soiled diapers, postmortem care) of male and female patients as directed by Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Head Nurse and Nurse Supervisor.
- Assist patients in performing activities of daily living.
- Provides uniform care to all patients that meet safety, comfort and hygiene needs of patients.
- Escort patient to examining unit and upon discharge.
- Observes the patient’s physical, mental and emotional conditions and promptly reports any changes to the nursing staff.
- Performs safe and simple nursing treatment and procedures under the supervision of staff nurses.
- Assist on specimen collection, labeling and transport to ancillary services.
- Receive endorsement and perform rounds.
- Performs hand hygiene, proper use of PPE’s, and observes waste segregation as part of infection prevention and control.
- Ensures proper waste disposal.
- Implements policies in preventing incidences of patient fall and pressure injuries.
- Promptly responds to disaster calls.
- Safely operates biomedical equipment necessary to patient care.
- Tags room ready for occupancy after Room preparation of 30 minutes after cleaning and disinfection
- Tags patient room for their doctor’s name
- Prepares room for admission including bed making.
- Check the patients' room prior to discharge.
- Facilitate aftercare of medical and non-medical equipment.
- Ensures linen inventory and medical equipment inventory complete.
- Cleaning of the Nurses’ station every night.
- Defrosting of refrigerators once a week.
- Monitor, Check and charge Nursing procedures done every shift.
- Monitor, Check and charge equipment and supplies used every shift.
- Secure requested patient supplies and medicines.
- Utilize resources efficiently
- Educate patients and relatives of basic good hygiene and infection control practices.
- Respects the rights of individuals and/or groups.
- Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
- Pursues/participates in formal or non-formal education related to patient care.
- Projects a professional image of a Nursing Assistant
- Demonstrates positive attitude towards work environment
- Participates in hospital activities that promote professional growth and development
- Participates in continuous quality Improvement Projects and activities
- Understands and delivers the expected key performance indicators
- Take and record vital signs, intake and output of patients.
- Records nursing care rendered to patients.
- Observes legal imperatives in records keeping
- Uses appropriate information technology and mode to facilitate communication.
- Answer a patient's call.
- Timely relay vital changes in patient’s observable conditions including vital signs and intake and output of patients.
- Assist food server during meal distribution.
- Distribute isolation meal trays.
- Secure blood products requested by the Charge Nurse from the Blood Bank.
- Perform errands needed for the station’s operation.
- Collaborates effectively with the other members of the health care team in providing quality care
- Collaborates to unit goals and objectives
