Shell Malaysia Upstream is a core country for Shell with both conventional and Deepwater assets that generate significant Cash Flow annually for Shell, supporting distributions and new investments in the transformation of Shell’s portfolio into the 2030s.
The Shell Malaysia Upstream portfolio consists of the following:
- Several Operated Gas and Oil Producing fields in the Sarawak Asset that supply gas into the MLNG (Malaysia Liquefied Natural Gas) onshore plant in Bintulu; the Gumusut-Kakap and Malikai deep-water oil fields in the Sabah Asset, and substantial non-Operated portfolio of oil & gas assets in Malaysia.
- We have a significant CAPEX investment in the Growth Portfolio in MLNG (Malaysia Liquefied Natural Gas), Timi, Jerun, Rosmari & Marjoram developments and various exploration opportunities including CCS over the next 5 years.
- The Malaysia Development and Subsurface team consists of Exploration, Development and Subsurface professionals that are focused on the safe execution and operation of our wells and assets, in delivering production gains through prudent Well Reservoir Facilities Management, and in delivering more than 50 new development & exploration wells over the next 5 years to enable future growth and sustain our business into the future.
- Geological Service Team is part of the Development and Subsurface – Geosolutions based in Miri, Sarawak. The team consists of Biostratigrapher & Geological Operations and Geochemists, with strong customer base demand primarily located in headquarters in Miri.
- Geochemistry is critical to the Upstream lifecycle and has direct impact on many business decisions.
THE ROLE
You will be part of the Geological Service Team that is responsible for the acquisition, interpretation, integration, and management of special geological and geochemistry data in support of Upstream activities.
As a Geochemist you will be responsible to:
- Deliver geochemistry advice and support through the design of data acquisition programs, execution of geochemical projects, integration of complex fluid and rock datasets and delivery of solutions to address a multitude of business-critical questions to enhance Shell Malaysia Upstream business position.
- Interact pro-actively with geologists, production chemists, basin modelers, production geologist, reservoir engineer and other experts within SMEP to maximize the value of Shell Malaysia Upstream position.
- Implement Industry and Shell work process, standard, workflows, and best practices to ensure safe operations.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
To succeed in the role, candidate must have the following skills and personal attributes:
- Advanced University degree in Geology/Geochemistry (MS or PhD).
- Accumulated eight (8) years of experience in Geochemistry within oil and gas industry with proven track record of high-quality project delivery.
- Excellent Skills in Geochemistry, including fluid evaluation, rock assessment, evaluation and prediction of contaminants, the use of high-end geochemistry tools, like biomarker interpretation and interpretation of gas and oil isotopes as well as the real time assessment of mudlogging gas data.
- Skilled level knowledge of analytical tools – e.g. HRGC, MDGC, GC-MS, GC, Rock-Eval, Isotubes, MDT’s,
- Proficiency in pIGI+, Techlog, Spotfire, PVTSim and GIS software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to articulate business and technical requirements.
- Passion in sharing knowledge and experiences widely, adopting ideas of others, keeping abreast of new developments, recognizing gaps in technology or workflow, identifying, and implementing new technologies, techniques, and practices.
